Today we’re happy to ship Nucleo v2.5.5, which includes one of the most requested features: custom Unicode values 🎉.

The first time you hear about Nucleo? Learn more and download the app for free at nucleoapp.com

Here’s a quick overview of what’s new:

  • Edit Unicode values in Projects
  • Option to create a new project when importing icons
  • Improved UX of icon importing
  • Fixed issues related to auto style attribution during importing

Custom Unicode values

We’ve been asked about this option by many users that wished to import and manage an icon font in Nucleo, but were forced to use the new Unicode values generated by our app.

In version 2.5.5, if you generate a font using the Nucleo app, then import it back creating a project, the Unicode values are preserved. Therefore if a team member imports a font made by you using Nucleo, they’ll have the same Unicode values.

⚠️ Important: for this to work, make sure to check the option to create a new project when importing icons. The Unicode values can be edited only within the Nucleo projects, not in the icons gallery page.

If you import an icon font that was not generated using Nucleo, the Unicode values are not preserved, but you can edit them within a project. This allows you to import and manage in Nucleo icon fonts that were generated using other tools.

UX improvements

We often receive feedback on how to improve the usability of our app, and we do our best to include minor UX improvements in all our releases.

In Nucleo v2.5.5, the main focus was on improving the importing process. Now it’s easier to select a destination for your new icons, and you can create projects in fewer steps.
